Favourite Books

This is just a list of books I like, I dont mean to imply that they might be “great literature”, whatever that might mean – just that I like each so much that I have
read them all several times over (I think one or two of these about 6 or 7 times now). So that must mean something…

  1. Calum,
How can I get a copy of your book ‘The Secret Horsepower Race?
What is your talk on at Cranwell in April 2020?
I share your enthusiasm for the Aubrey-Maturin series – unmatched in the fiction of Nelson’s navy.

    1. Hi Paul,
The book will be for sale from April 2020 onwards through Mortons press, Amazon etc.

The cranwell talk will be on key mistakes by German aero engine makers, air ministry and why similar errors
were avoided in Britain in the same period.

  2. Hi Calum,

very happy that I have found your Video about the book on You Tube.
Your book is just what I have been waiting for.
I will have a close look for it in April.

    Kind regards
    Andreas

  3. Hi Calum

    hope you are all well.
Any news about your new book?
I guess the Corona Crisis interfered with the planned release date in April.
Do you have a new release date?

    Kind regards

  4. Hi Calum –

I’ve bought four copies of your book so far – they make excellent gifts! There’s no way I’d lend out a copy, as I’m certain I’d never see it again. One was for my son, who is approaching the halfway point of his mechanical engineering degree here in the states.
I’ve just read Mr. Starr’s article on the carburetor troubles faced by the RAE in the early part of the war. Thank you for including this very informative essay. I finally have a good understanding of the trouble.
I’m looking forward to your next book.
    Thanks for everything,

    John McGill
